Getting to Orpen Gate from Hoedspruit
From Aerotel, drive through Hoedspruit and south on the R40 towards Klaserie, then turn east onto the R531 to Orpen Gate. It is about 64 km and roughly an hour. Orpen is in the central Kruger, and the roads towards Satara are some of the park's best for lions, big herds and cheetah on the open plains. Phalaborwa Gate, to the north, is a similar distance away if you want to explore the mopane country.
