Kruger National Park day trips
Hoedspruit is the closest town to Kruger's central-western gates, so a full day in the park is easy from here. Most guests leave early in an open safari vehicle with a guide, enter at Orpen Gate and are back for sundowners on the Wing Walk. You can also self-drive. Either way, ask us the night before and we will fill your cooler box with ice and drinks from the bar for the day.

Panorama Route and Blyde River Canyon
The Blyde River Canyon, one of the largest canyons on Earth, rises about an hour west of Aerotel. A Panorama Route day takes in viewpoints such as God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavels. We can book a guided tour, or set you up for a self-drive loop.

Game drives in private reserves
The private reserves around Hoedspruit offer morning and afternoon game drives in open vehicles with a ranger and tracker. These are a good choice if you want a shorter half-day safari, or a sunset drive close to home.
Hot air ballooning and horse riding
For a different view of the bushveld, a sunrise hot air balloon flight floats you over the Lowveld with the Drakensberg escarpment in the distance. Horse riding safaris take you among plains game at walking pace. Both run early in the morning, so we will help you time them around breakfast.
Wildlife rehabilitation and conservation visits
Hoedspruit is home to some of South Africa's best-known wildlife centres. We can arrange visits to:
- Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre: guided tours of a centre that treats injured and orphaned animals.
- HERD Elephant Orphanage: the elephant orphanage caring for rescued calves.
